Ankara, March 11, 2013 - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, has announced the meeting: Turkey and Turkish University's Research Outputs in the Context of International Trends in Science and Collaboration Opportunities, which will take place on 12 March at the Congress Center of Hacettepe University, Sihhiye Campus in Ankara, Turkey.

Elsevier has organized the meeting in close collaboration with Hacettepe University. Its main goal is to bring together representatives from government, research institutes, universities, university libraries, experts in public policy and researchers to present and discuss Turkey's research performance. At the same time the event will provide an opportunity for quality dialogue on the topic of research evaluation, innovation and policy management, and share best practices on how to capture and analyse information scientific research output and how it can be used to develop research strategy.

Keynote speakers of the event include: Prof. Dr. A. Murat TUNCER, Rector of Hacettepe University; Youngsuk "Y.S." Chi, Chairman of Elsevier; Prof. Andrea Bonaccorsi, board member of the Italian Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research institutes (ANVUR); Dr. John Green, Honorary Researcher, Imperial College; Prof. Mustafa Gden, Rector of Izmir Higher Technology Institute; Prof. Cem Sara, Vice Rector of Hacettepe University; Prof. Hasan MANDAL, Vice Rector of Sabanci University, Director of Research and Graduate Policies and Jrg Hellwig, SciVal Consultant at Elsevier.

"Elsevier is honoured to collaborate with Hacettepe University in organizing this meeting on research evaluation in Turkey," said Tayfun Basal, Elsevier's Regional Director for Turkey, Iran, Middle East and Central Asia. "The event will create opportunities for networking between institutions, universities, organizations and funding bodies on a national and international level. We believe that it will help develop new strategies to increase research performance of Turkey and stimulate international collaboration."

The Chair of Child Health, deemed to be the origin of Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine, was founded as a part of Faculty of Medicine, Ankara University by Prof. Dr. ?hsan Do?ramac? on February 2, 1954.
