How to Save Water in Your Swimming Pool

Your swimming pool spends a great amount of water every time you clean it as you need to fill it again with the same amount of water as before. It can be considered as a huge consumption of our water if you ask our World Water Council although there are no rules that restrict us from using too much water, conserving water should also be our concern. There are some simple ways though that will help you on saving water on your pool instead of changing or adding water frequently.

Make good use of your pool cover as it not only helps on keeping the water of the pool clean from dirt and debris, but it also helps in conserving water by slowing down the water evaporation which is a huge factor in the quick water loss of your pool. In case you don't use a swimming pool cover, you'll be surprised on how fast the water goes out of your pool. Not only is a pool cover beneficial in saving water, it also does reduce the need for frequently using chemical treatments to your pool. This also means that you are less prone to any skin and eye irritation. This time it doesn't only save water but it also saves money and keeps you healthy by reducing too much exposure to chemical products. Aside from conserving water, it also conserves heat which allows you to save more money as you will not need to turn your water heater on to have a warm water swim in the morning. This is very important as no one wants to swim in cold water and in case you already had, you'll know why conserving the heat is important.

Discourage the use of too much water in your pool as most of these are put to waste as they are splashed out of the pool frequently. Keep your water level at a lower level to reduce water loss due to many reasons.

Try not to overheat the water of your pool as it can add up to your quick water loss especially during warm weather. You can also turn it off to avoid water evaporation when no one is using the pool. However, if you have a pool cover, it is better to turn it off as covering the pool helps on retaining the heat for the next day.

Always check your pipes and facilities for possible leaks which contribute a lot in the large unnecessary consumption of water. Do a regular checkup of all the pipes that runs in and out of your property to ensure that there are no leaks anywhere.

Always drain your pool only when necessary. You can use the water of the pool as long as possible as you are disinfecting it and keeping it clean at all times. However, when the time comes that it is absolutely needed and there's nothing you can do, and then it's time to drain the water of your pool and change it with new water.
